EPX 3D
Description
Solvent-free, transparent, two-component epoxy (A & B) with self-leveling properties.
Recommended Uses
Used on floors, typically to cover printed vinyl, landscape or decorative 3D graphics, metallic pieces, or thin marble pieces arranged in geometric or random patterns. Suitable for applications in living rooms, bathrooms, entrances, restaurants, laboratories, and similar areas.
Features
• Easy to apply
• High transparency (colorless)
• High resistance to abrasion and mechanical stresses
• Chemical resistant
• Can be applied directly over cement floors incorporating decorative objects, metallic pieces, or thin marble pieces arranged in geometric or random patterns, or over printed vinyl, etc.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : After pouring the mixed 3D epoxy, use a roller to spread it, then proceed with spreading using a roller for edges or thin layers, or a notched trowel for higher film thicknesses, followed by a spiked roller to release trapped air.
• Mixing Ratio : 2 : 1 (A to B)
• Mixing : It is very important to ensure the correct mixing ratio of components (A & B) and to mix thoroughly using only a slow-speed mechanical mixer for at least 3 minutes to achieve full homogeneity (high-speed mixers are strictly prohibited). Do not mix more material than can be used within the pot life. If the mixture starts to react before use (increase in viscosity or formation of lumps), it must be discarded.
• Pot life : 60 minutes at 25°C (higher temperatures will significantly shorten the pot life).
• Thinner / Cleaner : The use of thinner is not recommended. Due to the limited pot life after mixing, all mixing and application tools must be cleaned immediately after use with S405 thinner (known as Epoxsol).
• Note : When applying an additional coat, the minimum and maximum recoating times must be respected. Any delay beyond the maximum recoating time requires surface preparation of the previous coat to ensure proper adhesion. The reaction between epoxy components (A & B) will not occur properly unless the temperature of both the mixture and the substrate remains above 10°C until full curing. Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point to prevent moisture condensation during application. Coated surfaces with EPX3D must not be exposed to water, chemicals, or mechanical stress before full curing.
Technical Information
• Component A : EPOXY 3D (A)
• Component B : EPOXY 3D (B)
• Gloss : High
• Volume Solids : 100% by volume (ASTM-D2697)
• Recommended film thickness : Minimum 1 mm (3 mm recommended).
• Water resistance : Excellent
• Friction Resistance : Excellent
• Abrasian Resistance : High
• Chemical Resistance : Very good
• Specific Gravity (mixed) : 1.05 kg/L
• Packaging : Component A (Base): 2 L in plastic container Component B (Hardener EPOXY3D): 1 L in plastic container
Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is essential for successful application. Surfaces must be clean, dry, level, and free from any residues or contaminants before application.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 4 hours (ASTM-D1640)
• Dry to Handle : 12 hours at 25°C (minimum recoating time) at 25°C. 48 hours (maximum recoating time) (ASTM-D1640) Surface sanding is required if this time is exceeded.
• Fully Cured : 7 days
• Note : Drying times are affected by film thickness and temperature. Higher temperatures significantly reduce drying times.
Storing Conditions
Epoxy materials in general, especially the hardener (Component B), must be stored in a cool, well-ventilated place away from heat and direct sunlight.
Shelf Life: One year from the date of packaging when stored in tightly closed original containers at temperatures between 10–40°C.
