WT03
Description
WT03 is a water-base putty based on emulsified polyvinyl acetate resin and fine fillers designed mainly for water-based and oil-based systems.
Recommended Uses
Used for filling hairline cracks, blow holes, voids and leveling surface discontinuities in both prepared old and new concrete surfaces to give a high quality even surface suitable to be topcoated by water based or oil based paints.
Features
• High filling properties.
• Easily laid and sanded.
• Short drying times, reducing overcoating times considerably.
• Easy to apply on vertical and overhead surfaces without slumping.
• Good adhesion to primed concrete substrates (water based primer).
• No harmful vapors and scents are present.
• Suitable to be topcoated by water-based or oil-based paints.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Wide bladed putty knife.
• Thinner / Cleaner : In general, there is no need to dilute. Clean applying tools immediately after application is completed by water.
• Application Temperature : 10-40?C.
• Note : • When applying a second layer of WT03, a special attention should be given toward drying times. Be sure prior to application that the first layer is cleaned from sanding dust.
Technical Information
• Color : Ivory or gray.
• Volume Solids : 52 % (ASTM-D2697).
• VOC : 0 g/ L (ASTM-D3960).
• Flexibility : Good.
• Adhesion : Good.
• Recommended film thickness : 400 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 1.3 m²/L at 400 microns “dry”
• Specific gravity : 1.83 kg/L (ASTM-D1475)
• Water resistance : Good
• Number of Coats : 3-4
• Packaging : 3.6L in metal can or 1.6 Kg in plastic container or 25 Kg in plastic pail.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
- Uncoated and clean substrates:
It is recommended to apply WT03 on primed surfaces with WT01 or WT05. Surfaces affected by a constant damp (such as cellars) should be treated by STOP200 or STOP200 F (refer to its technical leaflet). The primer should be left to achieve a tack free condition prior to applying WT03. Be sure primer (WT01or WT05) is clean, dry, and free of oil grease and other contaminants when WT03 is applied.
- Previously coated substrates:
WT03 can be applied over old coatings (water based or oil based). Old coatings should be clean, abraded and coated by WT05 coat. Application of WT05 over oil based coating is highly recommended in order to insure higher adhesion of WT03.
Note:
WT02 can be applied in areas where thicknesses up to 5mm are required to be achieved by single application.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 20 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 1 hour “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
Storing Conditions
• WT03 must not be allowed to be stored in untreated metals that are likely to corrode. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Exposure to strong heat and frost must be avoided.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
Avoid skin or eye contact. Prolonged contact may cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes.
