Wood Stain
Description
Solvent based wood stain.
Recommended Uses
Used for the decoration and protection of interior and exterior wooden surfaces. Wood Stain should be protected by a suitable sealer and / or lacquer. Application of Wood Stain will enhance the appearance of the natural fibrous direction of wood preserving and enhancing therefore the natural beauty or decoration of wooden substrates.
Features
-Suitable for all types of wood (soft wood, hard wood, and manufactured board materials).
-Good weather and UV resistance.
-Good color retention.
-Available in a wide range of colors.
-Easy to apply.
-Penetrates and protects wooden surfaces.
-Anti-fungus and anti-mould growth.
-Water repellant properties.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : brush (dipping).
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S101 is used for cleaning. In general, thinning is not required. Hard wooden surfaces may require thinning to ensure good penetration.
• Note : When recoating a special attention should be given toward drying times. Temperature of substrate should be at least 3°C above dew point to avoid moisture condensation during application.
Technical Information
• Color : Color card or against order.
• Volume Solids : 5 % (ASTM D2697).
• Flexibility : Fair.
• Recommended film thickness : 10 microns "dry".
• Theoretical spreading rate : 10 m²/L at 5 microns "dry".
• Specific gravity : 0.95 Kg/L (ASTM-D1475).
• Water resistance : Excellent.
• Abrasian Resistance : Fair.
• Number of Coats : 2 or more to obtain the desired color
• Packaging : 0.5 L in plastic bottle.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Prior to applying Wood Stain, wooden surfaces should be clean and dry. The loose fibrous material found on weathered wood should be removed by sanding, either manually or by the use of a power sander, until a sound base is produced.

Note:

Moisture content of wooden surfaces should not exceed 16%.

Recommended System:

It is recommended to apply over Wood Stain a sealer and / or a lacquer such as:

1-OMEGAN Sealer (2k) and OMEGAN Lacquer (2K)

2-NCL sealer / NCL lacquer

3-OD lacquer (mainly for exterior use)
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 24 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
-Wood Stain has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Wood Stain is classified under highly flammable materials.

-Shelf life is 2 years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.

Safety
-Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
-Do not breathe or inhale mist.
-Wear air-mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
