| Fire-Protect Ultra is an intumescent paint based on especially modified solvent based synthetic resin. | | |
| As an intermediate/finish intumescent paint used for the protection of any type of support (Steel, wood, concrete, etc.) from fire. When exposed to temperatures of 250°C and higher, Fire-Protect Ultra gradually expands to form a foam that insulates the underlying substrate and retard destruction of the substrate by fire. Coated surfaces with Fire-Protect Ultra could be topcoated with a suitable decorative finishing coat. The choice of topcoat will depend on contractor requirements. Typical uses are at steel structures, commercial centres, public buildings, schools, universities, hospitals, airports, etc.
| | |
| • Excellent non flammability and chemical inertness. • Suitable to be applied in all areas where fire protection is required. • Provides a smooth and decorative finish. Suitable to be topcoated by decorative paints according to project requirements. • Fire Protect Ultra remains effective for many years.
| | |
| • Method of Application : | Conventional spray or roller. Brush can be used for small areas. | • Mixing : | Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved. | • Thinner / Cleaner : | S305 “known as RUB thinner” is used for thinning and cleaning. Mixing ratio with S305 depends mainly on temperature and on method of application. | • Application Temperature : | 10-40?C. | • Curing : | • When recoating, a special attention should be taken toward drying times.
• Temperature of substrate should be at least 3°C above the dew point of the air to avoid moisture condensation during application.
| • Note : | 1- Never apply Fire-Protect Ultra over unclean or damp surfaces otherwise the applied coat could be removed easily.
2- Never apply Fire-Protect Ultra in a cloudy or rainy weather and be sure that Fire-Protect Ultra is not exposed to water before it is fully dry.

| Well-prepared-surfaces is an essential condition of coating successfulness. In general, surface must be clean, dry, undamaged and free of all contaminants prior to coating. STEEL: Remove all oil, grease, wax, …etc., from the surface to be coated by thinner S101. Abrasive blast to Sa2½ in accordance with ISO8501-1 and achieve a 50 ?m profile. Remove all abrasive residues and dust from surface. Apply WP immediately after blasting to prevent any contamination. Do not leave blasted steel uncoated overnight. Be sure that primer is clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, and any other contaminants prior to applying Fire-Protect Ultra. CONCRETE: Remove fins and other protrusions by stoning, sanding, or grinding. Abrasive blasting is best to remove all previous coatings, oils, laitance, and other foreign matters. Fill small holes or voids with STOP200 before applying Fire-Protect Ultra. New concrete must be cured at least 28 days at 21°C and 50% RH, or equivalent time. WOOD: Fire Protect Ultra is suitable to be applied directly on clean and dry wooden substrates. The loose fibrous material found on weathered wood should be removed by sanding, either manually or by the use of a power sander, until a sound base is produced. Note: Fire-Protect Ultra must never be applied over an old paint or over damp and contaminated surfaces soiled by grease, oil, or other contaminants.
| | |
| • Dry to Touch : | 30 minutes (ASTM-D1640). | • Dry to Handle : | 24 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640). |
| | |
| • Fire-Protect Ultra has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Fire-Protect Ultra is classified under highly flammable materials. • Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 30°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed. Safety: • Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application. • Do not breathe or inhale mist. • Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
