1k Lacquer
Description
Moisture curing one component polyurethane lacquer.
Recommended Uses
As a lacquer to protect wooden substrates and also can be used as a sealer for interior wooden and concrete surfaces. Typical uses are for walls, ceilings and especially on all wooden floors subjected to heavy wear such as bowling alleys, dancing halls, gymnasiums and schools.
Features
• Easy to apply, single component “no mixing required”.
• Excellent adhesion to hardboard, chipboard, wood, asbestos cement, concrete and cured unsaturated polyesters.
• Good flexibility.
• Excellent hardness.
• Available in gloss and matt finishes.
• Excellent abrasion and impact resistance.
• Very good chemical resistance.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray, roller and brush for small areas.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved
• Thinner / Cleaner : S507 “known as acrysol” can be used for thinning. Clean applying tools by thinner S501.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying times. Sanding is recommended in order to secure intercoat adhesion.
Technical Information
• Color : transparent.
• Volume Solids : 30 % "Gloss"; 22% "Matt" (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Good
• Recommended film thickness : 50-150 microns “dry” (Gloss); 50 microns “dry” (Matt).
• Theoretical spreading rate : 6 m²/L (Gloss); 4.4 m²/L (Matt) at 50 microns “dry”.
• Specific gravity : 1.02 kg/L "Gloss"; 0.95 kg/L "Matt" (ASTM-D1475).
• Water resistance : Excellent
• Number of Coats : 1-3 (Gloss); 1 (Matt). The interval time between coats is 40 to 120min. If thicker coats are required (more than 100 microns dry), several layers must be applied. The minimum recoat time between layers is between 24 to 48 hours depending on film thickness, relative humidity and temperature. Sanding is recommended when recoating in order to secure intercoat adhesion.
• Packaging : 0.9 L or 3.6 L in metal can.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
• Polyurethane Lacquer may directly be applied over well-prepared concrete or wooden surfaces as a sealer/lacquer or over dry and sanded OMEGAN Sealer.
• When overcoating over an old paint sanding is recommended to ensure better adhesion properties.
• When Polyurethane Lacquer is used for coating wood floors, thicker coats are required (more than 100 microns dry) and therefore several layers must be applied. The minimum recoat time between layers is between 24 to 48 hours depending on film thickness, relative humidity and temperature. Sanding is recommended when recoating in order to secure intercoat adhesion.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 60 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 24 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Fully Cured : 7 days
Storing Conditions
• Polyurethane Lacquer has to be kept in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. Polyurethane Lacquer is classified under high flammable materials.
• Shelf life is 18 months from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 25°C in a dry atmosphere. Containers should be kept tightly closed to prevent access of light and air humidity.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
