Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean and free of dust and other contaminants prior to application.
A- Wall Preparation:
Walls should be prepared prior to applying WT12 (Stucco):
1- Uncoated and clean walls:
Prepare the surface in accordance with the application instructions for the suitable primer and / or filler being used (Primer: WT01, Filler: WT03 or WT02 for higher thicknesses). Then apply WT05 after being sure that all blow holes and defects are completely filled to produce a smooth, clean and level surface. When filling deep holes, it is recommended to apply STOP200 (refer to its technical leaflet).
2- Previously coated walls:
WT05 should be applied to existing coatings. The surface of the existing coating has to be cleaned and abraded (especially when coating occurs over oil-based coatings). Be sure that WT05 adheres well to the existing coating prior to application to ensure good adhesion properties.
B- Application steps of WT12 (Stucco):
1- Apply WT12 by a stainless steel trowel to the entire surface to be decorated in a way to achieve the desired shape.
2- Smooth surface evenly and remove any loose materials from the surface with stainless steel trowel. The angle between the substrate and the spatula should be approximately 15 degree.
3- After drying of the final coat, a polish could be applied to bring out the shine and the rich marble like effect of the wall.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 30 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 12 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• WT12 must not be allowed to come into contact with non treated metals that are likely to corrode. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Exposure to strong heat and frost must be avoided.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Avoid skin or eye contact. Prolonged contact may cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes.
