PU2K Coat
Description
Two-component polyurethane finishing coat.
Recommended Uses
Designed mainly to protect wooden substrates and to provide a decorative aspect of wood. Recommended for use on all interior wooden furniture, windows and doorframes. Suitable to be used in kitchens and bathrooms due to its high resistance to moisture.
Features
• Excellent flexibility.
• High degree of hardness.
• Excellent abrasion resistance.
• Excellent resistance to detergents and humidity.
• High gloss and good color and gloss retention.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray
• Mixing Ratio : (by volume) Comp.A Comp.B Thinner (S507 “known as Acrysol”) 4 1 1
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Pot life : 4 hours (higher temperatures will shorten the potlife sharply)
• Cleaner : Clean applying tools by thinner S501.
• Curing : • The reaction between components A and B can not be guaranteed unless a temperature of at least 10°C is maintained for the mixture and the substrate until complete curing. Temperature of substrate should be at least 3°C above the dew point to avoid moisture condensation during application.
• Note : 1- When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying times. 2- Coated surfaces by OMEGAN Coat should not be exposed to water, chemicals, or mechanical stresses before it is fully cured.
Technical Information
• Component B : PU(B)
• Color : available in a wide range of colors.
• Gloss : Gloss (ASTM-D523).
• Volume Solids : 50.5% (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Excellent.
• Recommended film thickness : 50 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 10 m²/L at 50 microns “dry”.
• Water resistance : Excellent
• Abrasian Resistance : Excellent
• Number of Coats : 1-2
• Specific Gravity (mixed) : 1.2 kg/L (DIN 51757).
• Packaging : Component A 3.6 L or 0.9 L in metal can. Component B 0.9 L or 0.225 L in metal can.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
It is recommended to apply OMEGAN Coat over a suitable primer / surfacer such as OMEGAN primer/surfacer, SYN203 Primer, or NCL primer/surfacer.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 30 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 4 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Fully Cured : 7 days
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• OMEGAN Coat has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. OMEGAN Coat is classified under highly flammable materials.
• Shelf life is one year from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
