SRT Primer/surfacer (AC2)
Description
Two-component acrylic-urethane primer/surfacer.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly as a primer/surfacer for auto repair, and vehicles.
Features
• Excellent adhesion properties.
• Excellent filling properties.
• Easy sanding.
• Suitable for metal and plastic substrates.
• Suitable to be topcoated by almost all kinds of automotive coatings such as Bas Basecoat and SRT coatings in spraying booths.
• Low absorption, increases covering rate and improves the properties of the finishing coat.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray
• Mixing Ratio : (by volume) Comp.A Comp.B 2 1 Stir well individual components before mixing.
• Pot life : 2 hours (higher temperatures will shorten the potlife sharply).
• Thinner / Cleaner : If required, S603 “ known as thinner ST2” is used for thinning and cleaning.
• Curing : • The reaction between AC2 components can not be guaranteed unless a temperature of at least 10°C is maintained for the mixture and the substrate until complete curing. Temperature of substrate should be at least 3°C above the dew point to avoid moisture condensation during application.
• Note : • Coated surfaces by AC2 should not be exposed to water, chemicals, or mechanical stresses before it is fully cured.
Technical Information
• Component B : SRT AC2 drier
• Color : Gray or yellow.
• Flexibility : Excellent
• Adhesion : Excellent
• Recommended film thickness : 50 microns “dry, after sanding”
• Number of Coats : 2-3 “allow 5-10 minutes to flash between coats”.
• Packaging : Component A : 0.9 L in metal can Component B “SRT AC2 drier” : 0.45 L in metal can
Substrate Treatment
• Suitable Substrates: AC2 may directly be applied over well-prepared metal surfaces, epoxy primer (EPX02 “white”), polyester putty (PE Putty), or over nitrocellulose putty (AC putty). When applying AC2 on plastic substrates, be sure that solvent in AC2 will not weaken the plastic.
• Surface Preparation (Repair Area):
1. Remove flecks of old paint with a scrapper, sandpaper, or SIP Paint Remover.
2. Remove dirt and water-soluble contaminants by washing with detergent and hot water solution. Rinse well and wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
3. Remove grease, oil and other contaminants with thinner (S100 or S501), then wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
4. Fill repair area with polyester putty (PE Putty).
Note: For Originally Equipment Manufacture (OEM) it is recommended to apply EPX02 “white” primer to bare substrate. Then if required, fill with a fine coat of PE Putty.
5. Shape and sand filler using 180-240 and 320-400 grit treated sandpaper respectively.
6. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by solvent (S100 or S501).
7. Apply 2-3 coats of AC2 immediately after surface preparation.
• Sanding: First, sand AC2 with 180-240 grit treated sandpaper. Then, finish sanding with 320-400 grit treated sandpaper. When sanding, a special attention should be taken toward dry to sand condition. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by solvent (S100 or S501).
Note: If needed, for best leveling, apply PE Putty (fine) then surface again.
• Recoating: Fine sanded AC2 may be filled with PE Putty (fine), AC putty or / and coated by almost all kinds of automotive coatings “including heat curing 2k coatings”.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 20 minutes
• Dry to Handle : 24 hours
• Dry to Sand : 24 hours “minimum recoat time”
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
AC2 is classified under highly flammable materials. Containers must be kept tightly closed in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air-mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
