Pearl lacquer
Description
One component acrylic lacquer.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly for exterior and interior decorative purposes, suitable to be mixed with pearl or metallic powder to protect its original color, to provide excellent transparency and fast drying, and to prevent yellowing.
Features
• Easy to apply, single component “no mixing required”.
• Excellent transparency.
• High gloss aspect.
• Does not affect the color of pearl or metallic powder.
• Excellent yellowing resistance.
• Fast drying which allows early polishing.
• Good abrasion resistance.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S308 "known as pearl thinner" is used for thinning. Clean applying tools by thinner S308 or S501. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature. At 20°C: Conventional spray will need approx. 1 litre S308 per quart PEARL Lacquer.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : Transparent
• Volume Solids : 32.5 % (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Very good.
• Recommended film thickness : 40 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 8 m²/L at 40 microns “dry”.
• Specific gravity : 0.93 kg/L (ASTM-D1475).
• Abrasian Resistance : Good
• Number of Coats : 1-2
• Packaging : 0.9 L in US Quart or 3.6 L in US Gallon.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, dry, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
It is recommended to apply PEARL Lacquer directly over surfaces coated by a suitable coat “NCL or OMEGAN (2k), or Fluorescent” or over almost all kinds of coatings (A simple test over a coated sample is required before application).
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• PEARL Lacquer has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. PEARL Lacquer is classified under highly flammable materials.
• Shelf life is 2 years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
