NCL Lacquer
Description
One component nitrocellulose lacquer.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly to protect wooden substrates preserving and enhancing the natural beauty or decoration of wood. Especially recommended when fast drying is required.
Features
1- Easy to apply, single component “no mixing required”.

2- Fast drying which allows early polishing.

3- Available in gloss and matt finishes.

4- Excellent transparency.

5- Good abrasion resistance.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S505 “known as Retard” is used for thinning. Clean applying tools by thinner S501. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature. At 20°C: Conventional spray will need approx. 2.2 litre S505 per gallon NCL Lacquer “Gloss” and 6 litre S505 per gallon NCL Lacquer “Matt”.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be taken toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : Transparent.
• Volume Solids : 34.7 % “Gloss” and 9.5% “Matt” (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Good.
• Recommended film thickness : 60 microns “dry”(gloss) and 20 microns “dry” (Matt).
• Theoretical spreading rate : 5.8 m²/L “Gloss” and 1.6 m²/L “Matt” at 60 microns “dry”.
• Specific gravity : 0.977 kg/L “Gloss” and 0.953 kg/L “Matt” (ASTM-D1475).
• Abrasian Resistance : Good
• Number of Coats : 1-2
• Packaging : 3.6 L or 0.9 L in metal can.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.

It is recommended to apply NCL Lacquer directly over wooden surfaces sealed by a suitable sealer (NCL sealer or OMEMGAN sealer (2k).
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
NCL Lacquer has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. NCL Lacquer is classified under high flammable materials.
Shelf life is 3 years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.

Safety:

1- Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.

2- Do not breathe or inhale mist.

3- Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
