NCL Primer/Surfacer
Description
One component nitrocellulose primer/surfacer.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly as a primer/surfacer applied on wooden substrates especially when fast drying is required
Features
• Fast drying which allows early and easy sanding and early recoating.
• Easy to apply, single component “no mixing required”.
• Dry and fine NCL Primer/Surfacer is suitable to be topcoated by almost all kinds of coatings.
• Good filling properties.
• Good flexibility.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S501 is used for thinning and cleaning. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature. At 20°C: Conventional spray will need approx. 5.7 litre S501 per 3.6 L NCL Primer/Surfacer.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be taken toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : White, gray.
• Volume Solids : 40 % (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Good
• Recommended film thickness : 50-60 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 8 m²/L at 50 microns “dry”.
• Specific gravity : 1.063 kg/L (DIN 51757).
• Number of Coats : 2
• Packaging : 0.9 L or 3.6 L in metal can.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
• NCL primer/surfacer may directly be applied over well-prepared and sanded wooden surfaces or over wooden surfaces filled by suitable putty (SYN310 Putty, or AC Putty).
• If extremely smooth and even surfaces are required it is recommended to apply OMEGAN Primer/Surfacer.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• NCL primer/surfacer has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place protected from heat and direct sunlight. NCL primer/surfacer is classified under high flammable materials.
• Shelf life is 2 years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
