NCL Gloss Coat
Description
One component nitrocellulose coating.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly for protection of well-prepared and primed surfaces when fast drying is required.
Features
• Easy to apply, single component “no mixing required”.
• Fast drying.
• Allows early polishing.
• Attractive colors with good gloss aspect.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S505 “known as Retard” is used for thinning. Clean applying tools by thinner S501. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature. At 20°C: Conventional spray will need approx.3.3 litre S505 per 3.6L NCL Gloss Coat.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be taken toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : Wide range of colors.
• Gloss : Gloss (ASTM-D523)
• Volume Solids : 40.5 % "White" (ASTM-D2697).
• Flexibility : Good
• Recommended film thickness : 50 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 8.1 m²/L at 50 microns “dry” (White).
• Specific gravity : 1.253 kg/L "White" (ASTM-D1475).
• Abrasian Resistance : Good
• Number of Coats : 1-2
• Packaging : 3.6 L or 0.9 L in metal can.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
It is recommended to apply NCL Gloss Coat directly over surfaces coated by a suitable primer/surfacer.
Note: Pearl Lacquer can be used over NCL Gloss Coat for decoration purposes.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times
Storing Conditions
• NCL Gloss Coat has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. NCL Gloss Coat is classified under high flammable materials.
• Shelf life is 3 years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
