AC Surfacer
Description
One component nitrocellulose surfacer.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly as a surfacer over primed, filled, and leveled metal surfaces for auto repair, and vehicles. AC surfacer can also be used for furniture
Features
• Excellent smootheness (will lead to a low absorbent substrate).
• Short drying times, reducing recoating times considerably.
• Good adhesion.
• Reduces absorption of finishing coat and improves its hiding power.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing Ratio :
• Cleaner : Thinner S501 or S502 are used for thinning or cleaning. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature.
• Note : Stirr well before mixing.
Technical Information
• Color : White, gray, black
• Flexibility : Very good
• Adhesion : Good
• Recommended film thickness : 50 microns “dry, after sanding”
• Number of Coats : 2-3
• Packaging : 3.6 L or 0.9 L in metal can.
Substrate Treatment
• Suitable Substrates: In general, AC surfacer is recommended to be applied directly over putties as an intermediate coat.
• Surface Preparation:
1. Fill surfaces with suitable putty.
2. Shape and sand filler using 180-240 and 320-400 grit treated sandpaper respectively.
3. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by thinner (S100 or S501).
4. Apply 2-3 coats of AC Surfacer immediately after surface preparation.
Note: If needed, for best leveling, apply a AC putty then surface again with AC Surfacer.
• Recoating: In general, fine sanded AC-Surfacer is considered to be a universal intermediate coat. It can be topcoated by almost all kinds of topcoats.
Note: It is recommended to apply SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2) instead of AC surfacer when finishing is achieved by 2k-coatings “such as SRT Coat or SRT Clearcoat” at 60-80°C inside spraying booths.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 10 minutes
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes
• Dry to Sand : 2 hours “minimum recoat time”
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• AC surfacer is classified under high flammable materials. Containers must be kept tightly closed in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight.
• Shelf life is three years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist
• Wear air-mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
