STOVING ENAMEL
Description
Melamine-based stoving enamel.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly for general industrial and domestic appliances on metal surfaces.
Features
• Good gloss aspect.
• Excellent flexibility.
• Excellent abrasion resistance.
• Good resistance to UV.
• Continuos thermal resistance up to 120°C.
• Good resistance to hot water and to humidity cycles “dry and humid”.
• Good resistance to diluted acids and alkalis.
• Applied directly over abrasive blast and clean steel.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray or Roller coaters.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S307 “known as stoving thinner” is used for thinning when conventional spray application is used and also for cleaning. Mixing ratio with thinner depends mainly on temperature. At 20?C: conventional spray will need approx. 6.25 litre S307 per 18 L STOVING ENAMEL.
• Application Temperature : 10-40؛C.
• Note : • When recoating, a special attention should be taken toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : White, (other colors upon request)
• Volume Solids : 45 % (ASTM-D2697)
• Flexibility : Good
• Recommended film thickness : 40-50 microns “dry”
• Theoretical spreading rate : 9 m²/L at 50 microns “dry”
• Specific gravity : 1.26 kg/L (DIN 51757).
• Abrasian Resistance : Excellent
• Chemical Resistance : Good
• Solvent Resistance : Very good
• Number of Coats : 1
• Packaging : 18 L in Metal can
Surface Preparation
well-prepared-surfaces is an essential condition of coating successfulness. In general, surface must be clean, dry, undamaged and free of all contaminants prior to coating.
STEEL:
Remove all oil, grease, wax, …etc., from the surface to be coated by thinner (S100 or S101).
Abrasive blast can be used to Sa2 in accordance with ISO8501-1. Remove all abrasive residues and dust from surface.
Apply STOVING ENAMEL immediately after surface preparation to prevent any contamination. Do not leave blasted steel uncoated overnight.
Galvanized steel and Aluminum should be primed by WP wash primer “refer to technical leaflet”.
Note: STOVING ENAMEL must never be applied over an old paint or unclean substrate.
Drying Time
• Dry to Handle : 20-40 minutes at a temperature ranging from 90 to 130?C.
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• STOVING ENAMEL has to be kept in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight. STOVING ENAMEL is classified under highly flammable materials.
• Shelf life is three years from packing date in unopened original containers at 5 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
