FlexCoat
Description
A highly flexible two component primer/coat based on acrylic emulsion resin and powder.
Recommended Uses
1- Used on both new and old concrete substrates to provide a highly flexible water resistant coat.
2- Ideal for use on high coat thicknesses to protect concrete substrates, masonry roofs, facades, balconies, underground surfaces, potable water storage tanks, reservoirs, towers, water retaining structures, swimming-pools, sewage treatment plants, and water channels.
Features
• Excellent flexibility, suitable to be applied in excessively high thickness without crack formation.
• Excellent adhesion on concrete, asbestos, tiles, etc….
• Provides protection from corrosion of reinforcement, as it prevents penetration of carbon dioxide and chlorides into the substrate.
• Non toxic, suitable for use on potable water storage tanks, reservoirs, towers, etc….
• Excellent resistance to the effects of ultra-violet light, weathering and atmospheric pollution.
• Suitable for use on concrete surfaces exposed to damp substrates.
• Outstanding waterproofing properties, it provides concrete substrates excellent protection against sea water and waste-water.
• Superior freeze / thaw resistance.
• Suitable to be topcoated by roofcoating (WT16), water base bitumen (WT18), tartan (WT14), and almost all kinds of coatings.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Brush, roller.
• Mixing Ratio : (A to B)2 to 1 (by weight)
• Mixing : Add one part (by weight) of component B (resin) slowly from the plastic bottle into two parts of component A (powder) and mix slowly in order to ensure that uniform consistency is achieved.
• Pot life : 1 hour (higher temperatures will shorten the potlife sharply).
• Thinner / Cleaner : Do not thin, clean applying tools immediately after application is completed by water.
• Application Temperature : 5-40?C.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying time.
Technical Information
• Color : White or Gray.
• Volume Solids : (mixed)72.4 % (ASTM D2697).
• VOC : 0 g/L (ASTM-D3960).
• Flexibility : Excellent.
• Adhesion : Very Good.
• Recommended film thickness : 200 microns.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 3.6 m²/L at 200 microns “dry”.
• Specific gravity : “dry”1.62 kg/L
• Water resistance : Excellent.
• Abrasian Resistance : Excellent.
• Number of Coats : 2, allow 10-15 minutes interval prior to applying the second coat.
• Packaging : Component A (powder):10 Kg in paper bag. Component B (resin):5 Kg in plastic bottle.
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
Remove fins, protrusions, and other loose material with a scrapper, sandpaper, or wire brush.
For best results, surfaces should be damp but not wet prior to applying Flex-Coat. Protect fresh applications from rain, strong wind and intense sun light for 12 hours.
Drying Time
• Note : 24 hours, and 3 days prior to a continuous exposure to water. Drying time can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times. Apply the second coat within 10-15 minutes, depending on temperature and relative humidity, otherwise de-bonding of the second coat could result.
Storing Conditions
• Store component A (powder) in dry conditions in the original and unopened paper bags. Avoid powder to be exposed to high temperatures and high humidity conditions. Component B (resin) must not be allowed to come into contact with metals that are likely to corrode. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Exposure to strong heat and frost must be avoided.
• Shelf life is one year from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
• Safety:
Avoid skin or eye contact. Prolonged contact may cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes.
