WT18
Description
WT18 is a waterproof and damp-proof coating based on water emulsion bitumen modified polymer (elastomer).
Recommended Uses
Used as a highly flexible waterproof and damp-proof coat suitable for a wide range of construction substrates to prevent water, water vapor, and dissolved salts penetration. Recommended to be used as a general-purpose waterproof and damp-proof coating for concrete foundations, walls, floors, and other structures. And as a barrier coat for interior and exterior water concrete reservoirs, tunnels, etc. Also as an effective bonding agent for insulation boards, expanded polystyrene, cork panels, asphalt and asbestos tiles.
Features
• Excellent waterproof and damp-proof coating.
• Excellent flexibility, outstanding resistance to substrate cracking.
• Excellent penetration into substrates.
• Excellent adhesion to most building surfaces.
• Suitable to be applied to damp concrete substrates
• Economical and easy to apply, cold applied. Free from harmful vapors and scent.
• Resistant to chloride and sulphate ions.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Brush, roller, or by airless spray.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : In general, there is no need to dilute. But if required a small amount of water is added (10% maximum). Clean applying tools by water immediately after application is completed. When dry, it can be removed with thinner S306.
• Application Temperature : 10-40?C.
• Note : • When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying times.
Technical Information
• Color : black
• Volume Solids : 50 % (ASTM-D2697)
• VOC : 62.5 g/L (ASTM-D3960)
• Flexibility : Excellent.
• Adhesion : Very Good
• Recommended film thickness : 200-500 microns “dry”.
• Theoretical spreading rate : 2 m²/L at 250 microns “dry”
• Specific gravity : 1.25 kg/L (ASTM-D1475)
• Water resistance : Excellent.
• Number of Coats : 2 – 3
• Packaging : 20 Kg in plastic pail
Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
Prior to applying WT18, concrete surfaces can be wetted by water in order to open concrete pores. Also highly porous substrates can be primed with acrylic primer (WT01). The primer should be left to achieve a dry to handle condition prior to applying WT18.
• If WT18 is used as a bonding agent for insulation boards, expanded polystyrene, cork panels, asphalt and asbestos tiles, WT18 must be left a short period to become tacky prior to applying tiles or panels.
Note: Clean off immediately any contamination by WT18 of the upper surface of tiles or panels with a wet and /or dry clean cloth. Otherwise cleanning will be difficult.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 1 hour (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 4 hours “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Complete Setting : 24 hours
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
WT18 must not be allowed to be stored in untreated metals that are likely to corrode. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Exposure to strong heat and frost must be avoided.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
Avoid skin or eye contact. Prolonged contact may cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes.
